Biomass pellets belong to the low-carbon energy. Actually, to burn biomass pellets means to burn the volatile inside. Content of fixed carbon is only about 15%. Ash content in biomass pellets is 1.8%, which takes one tenth of coal-based fuel. So, by equipping the boiler with simple dedusting device, we can realize the standard discharge of dust.
Biomass pellets have low nitrogen, but high oxygen. When we burn the biomass pellets, content of nitrogen oxide can be decreased. Density of biomass fuel is generally at the scope from 1.1t/m3 to 1.3t/m3. One ton of biomass fuel is equivalent to 0.8 ton standard coal or 0.51 ton diesel.
Biomass fuels are originated from agricultural or forestry wastes. Biomass alcohol-based fuels take wheat as raw materials. Biodiesel takes oil plants as raw materials. Even though the two fuels are clean and renewable like biomass pellets, they would still compete with people for wheat and land.
